About

Chun Dance was founded out of Director Hsieh Yi-Chun’s love for her fellow dancers, and has nurtured many outstanding local dancers in Taoyuan, while cultivating public’s passion for the art of dance.

As a young team that started locally but dares to challenge boundaries, we aim to break cultural barriers. Since 2023, Chun Dance has actively expanded outward, transforming its audience into an international one. Yi-Chun’s creation, Quand Le Corps S’exprime, was selected for performance at the Théâtre La Condition des Soies during the Off Avignon Arts Festival in July 2024.

Following this success, Yi-Chun continued her exploration of a distinctive dance vocabulary exclusively for Chun Dance with the premiere of her latest piece, Trace of Belief, which blends contemporary dance techniques with the signature dance style she has been pursuing— low-centred movements paired with fluid circular motions reminiscent of flowing water. The piece has again received the praise of Edinburgh Taiwan Season and was selected to showcase during Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2025. 

Embracing diverse dance styles and various cultural identities, Chun Dance embodies the “glocal” spirit—both deeply rooted in local traditions and globally engaged. With a theme-agnostic, multicultural, and challenge-embracing approach, we remain committed to bringing our works to the international stage, breaking language barriers, and connecting with audiences worldwide.
