We Live Here

“We Live Here” is the second half of Guest – Transformers, the 2024 Chun Dance annual production choreographed by Chang Chien Hao in collaboration with six dancers. Over the course of 30 minutes, the audience is treated to rhythmic music, street-style dance, and fluid motion. As the performance progresses and the music gradually slows, the dancers engage in everyday routines, creating a sense of domestic familiarity. This evokes a peaceful, airy consistency, closing the performance with a silent, content atmosphere.

The dancers’ continuous movement reflects the urban vibrancy of Taoyuan City. Whether in groups, pairs, or solo, their dynamic interactions activate the cityscape. With a blend of speed and rhythm, they work, dance, party, and rest, illustrating the seamless flow of daily life as it intertwines with the passage of time. “Guest” , (read as “Hakka” in local dialect) refers to an ethnic group of Taoyuan city. The name “Guest/Hakka” signifies the cultural identity of this community as newcomers in an evolving area. Artistic director Yi Chun chose this name for the biannual collaboration project with guest choreographers. While the themes of “Guest” may vary, but consistently address the issues of migration, traditional culture, and the atmosphere of Taoyuan city.
